Travel insurance for older visitors to Georgia
Plans available after age 65, how birthdays affect eligibility and what to ask about pre-existing conditions before buying.
Check age on the policy start date
When buying insurance for a parent, first check their date of birth and the insurance start date. Their age when paying may differ from their age when the trip begins.
For example, someone aged 65 today who turns 66 before the policy starts is no longer eligible for Lite. Consider Standard or Premium. Someone already aged 71 on the start date cannot buy these plans through the current form.
Questions about pre-existing conditions
Travel insurance does not mean every treatment during a trip is paid for. GPI Holding's terms include exclusions for pre-existing conditions and a provision for life-saving emergency care. That provision does not promise cover for every flare-up, scheduled examination or regular medication.
Before buying, describe the situation that matters to you and ask the insurer to explain the chosen contract. For example, ask whether a particular flare-up is covered and which restrictions apply.
Compare costs and how assistance works
Check the deductible, individual service limits and approval rules for treatment and medical evacuation. The total sum insured is not the amount available for any single procedure.
If buying for a parent, use their personal details. Check their name, document and dates, save the policy on their phone and share the insurer's contact details with their companion.
Prepare to request assistance
Keep an offline copy of the policy and the assistance instructions. Agree in advance who can contact the insurer if the traveller cannot easily make the call themselves.
Call 112 in a life-threatening emergency. Contact the insurer using the policy details to arrange treatment; contact Polis.ge for questions about buying or receiving the document.
Common questions
Can someone aged 70 buy a policy?
The current online form offers Standard and Premium if the person is 70 on the insurance start date. Check the chosen plan's terms before paying.
How do the plans for travellers over 65 differ?
From age 66 through 70 inclusive, choose Standard with a 100 GEL deductible or Premium with no deductible. Check the limits and assistance conditions for either plan. For travellers over 70, ask support about options: the current online form cannot issue these plans.
Can I buy insurance for my mother or father?
Yes. Enter the insured parent's details and an accessible email address for receiving documents. Pass the issued policy to the traveller.
